Art: The Samurai
Another one of the characters I made when I was younger.

A while ago I posted a stylized drawing of the other main character of the story a while ago, Kaiyama. You'll probably never see something like this again; I still can't draw Japanese faces very well, and he looks much younger than he's supposed to be.

hiromatsu

I think of his as "askew"; he's not really that crooked, as far as samurai go, and no one during his time period was heterosexual, per se. He's married, and blackmails people. He's a fairly good-natured person, well-liked, but Kaiyama just knows how to push all his buttons, and they have something between love and hate.

This never got written because a) I only have a vague knowledge of Meiji Era Japan and b) I didn't know entirely where it was going.

I think this is good. I'm sure I couldn't draw a Japanese face at all. And don't many Japanese people look younger than they actually are?

It certainly took some work for me. Japanese don't age the same way as Europeans do, that's for sure.

Of all your drawings I like this one most. Well, after 'my' Taurus. And the Breakfast Lady. I don't know why.
