Lent and Sweeney Todd
Well, apparently I missed the beginning of Lent. Actually, I knew I did--I'm not Catholic anyway. But, according to our calendar Eastern Orthodox Lent begins tomorrow. So I thought, eh, why not for my own amusement? So away with chocolate it is (it's really the only thing of substance that I can get rid of).

The only problem is that I have to get rid of the chocolate in my dorm today, or else I will probably end up giving in. I'm going to have a very unhealthy day--I've got girl scout cookies and these chocolate milanos. I'm might end up with a stomachache. But I considered giving up tea, which I actually guzzle, but that's my only caffeine intake, and what gets me going in the morning. I even vaguely considered going the two weeks without yaoi....but that would mean you'd get absolutely nothing in terms of writing, I wouldn't get to read the Mary Renault books I just spent teh money one (yes, I got going), and by the time I was back I would either be dead or out of my mind. And I would actually be stopping on writing two of my term papers for school--Alexander the Great for history (more specifically, his relations to other people), and Plato, which includes reading Symposium.

Sweeney Todd (on making movies)
Anyway, I've got some neat videos for those of you who liked Sweeney Todd. The first is on Special vs Practical Effects--I was in drama in high school, so I can sort of relate to what they say about green screen, and not seeing the set. The second is Tim Burton talking about his style of directing, which I feel can apply to any style of art, and so is worth watching, whatever your thing may be.

Oh, oh! I forgot! I have a fic rec, for those of you who are into Alexander. It's PWP, but there's a rhythm in their speech that I absolutely love, and am totally unable to do myself.

Most Desirous Distraction

(On a completely random note, I am having a terrible spelling day. I even had to check the spelling of "rhythm"...so sorry if there's a letter missing in a word or something.)

Wow, that's impressive if you even attempt to give up something for Lent. It could be even something small...I've never tried it, anyway.

But going completely without slash? Drastic. You have to tell me how you like the Renault books instead (yay, you've started!). And good luck on your papers, Alexander and Symposium sound like a wonderful combination. ♥

Thanks for the videos, I'm glad to know about the "style of directing" one.

And a fic rec? Great!

Ah well...I'm not sure how much I'll use Symposium. The assignment is to take a philosopher and criticize what they say, but that particular work of Plato is idealistic in such an innocent way...I sort of don't want to touch it.

I had a friend who tried to give up DDR for lent...cause that went so well...

I understand that, I wouldn't like to criticize Symposium either. Maybe...try a different philosopher? XD

Hehe, I've heard about the DDR addiction a lot of people have. Same as if I tried to give up the internet (which I was forced to do last year for almost a month, and it was horrible).
