Genji Monogatari
I felt kinda bad for this guy in my history class yesterday. We read part of The Tale of Genji, and he wasn't ready for it, in a way, so he was all disappointed at the hypocrisy of the ruling class, publishing all these moral codes, but the typical aristocrat enjoying this sort of free lifestyle, and all. Really, he was hoping for Paradise Lost, and got Madame Bovary instead. I almost want to apologize, like it's my fault.

BUT!! I did find out that they're making/have made a new movie for it! The one from the eighties never got subbed, but I have a feeling this one will, given the actor and the growing interest in Japanese exports. (Of course, I'm talking about "subtitles" more in a "fansub" capacity.)

I think it look cool!

I haven't read this yet, which is terrible, but I do hope the movie gets subbed. Because when I do get around to reading it I'll be like "WANNA WATCH ADAPTATIONS NOW PLEASE HELP ME INTERNET", I can already see it. (And I don't want to see the movie first because half the fun in such things is catching what they changed and how and why.)

Really, he was hoping for Paradise Lost, and got Madame Bovary instead.
XD But you shouldn't apologize for an upgraded role of psychology in the narrative!

Normally I'd agree about seeing movies first, but It's a little hard to get an idea about the overall themes just reading it. I've been alternating between working my way through the book and seeing adaptations. And really, I've never seen one that covers the entire story, since it's so long.

Anyway, I didn't realize exactly how new this movie was...apparently the kyoto premier was on the tenth, and it was officially released today. I guess crunchyroll gets news fast.
