Bondage as fashion?
Last year, I got the idea of design a couple dresses influenced by shibari. I drew them out, a couple of my friends--mostly the ones interested in bondage--told me they thought it was brilliant. I had a couple of them who weren't into it say that they would wear it. I basked in the praise, as one does when one thinks they've just had a stroke of genius.

Then I attempted construction. And it had glitches, mostly involving keeping the design even and, most embarrassingly, how to actually get the fucking thing on with the material chosen.. I got frustrated, threw it across the room, and gave up.

Since I went dress shopping for the society wedding I'll be attending, I came up with a few solutions. And I drew out the idea again, in a much more sophisticated way. While it would still take a little help to get into, what with the placements of buttons, isn't half the fun of this type of thing having your significant other make sure it's on properly, anyway?

The best part: I showed the drawing to a friend who has never heard of shibari (and didn't tell her what the concept was), and she thought it was beautiful! I'm so proud! Now, I just have to actually test out the construction again...

ETA: Fuck you, LJ, deleting my images...
