Drabble: Of Humans
Title: Of Humans
Word count: 100
Notes: So if Coyote is my favourite character, Ivan and the Grey Wolf is my favourite story. There's a very specific version by Gennady Spirin that I absolutely love. But it occurred to me recently just how stupid Ivan was.

The wolf paced anxiously, listening. Then he heard it: the sound of a thousand bells ringing. It was beautiful, but frustrating beyond belief. It was the second time that fool of a prince had failed to listen to him. He didn't know what was so hard about “don't touch the golden reins.”

It was quite typical of humans, he supposed. They just couldn't seem to keep their hands of anything shiny. And there was Ivan-tsarevitch, walking up the hill. At least the stupid boy had the prudence to look ashamed.

“Alright. Let's get the girl,” the wolf sighed wearily.
